Job Overview: The Case Management Team Leader will play a crucial role in overseeing a team of up to seven staff members engaged in case management activities. This position requires a strong leader who can support staff development through hiring, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work. The successful candidate will guide team members in conducting confidential interviews with beneficiaries, ensuring compliance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role also involves coordinating travel arrangements for beneficiaries and ensuring secure document storage management. The Team Leader will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and data integrity, conducting outreach activities, and liaising with various stakeholders, including government authorities and NGOs. This position demands a professional who can maintain confidentiality and integrity while demonstrating a commitment to IOM's values and principles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee a team of up to seven staff members in case management activities, ensuring high-quality work and accurate completion of tasks.
Support staff development through hiring, training, and regular performance feedback.
Guide team members in conducting confidential interviews with beneficiaries in accordance with SOPs.
Advise on initial case assessments and the development of tailored plans in coordination with service providers.
Ensure accurate recording of demographic and case information in IOM systems.
Coordinate travel arrangements for beneficiaries with Movement Management colleagues.
Implement secure document storage management in line with SOPs.
Liaise with internal teams and external partners regarding IOM assistance and beneficiary referrals. 1
Prepare regular data mining reports to maintain project integrity. 1
Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness among target groups and stakeholders. 1
Perform in-person assistance at airports and operational escort duties as needed. 1
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of paperwork in compliance with data protection rules. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience in supervising a team and delivering training is essential, as is experience working with migrants and vulnerable individuals. Prior experience with IOM or another international organization is advantageous, particularly in programs involving movement operations.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: The position requires significant experience, specifically six years with a school diploma or four years with a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields. Candidates should have experience supervising a team, delivering training, and working with migrants, civil society, and government entities. Experience in programs with a movement operations component, particularly Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs, is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with individuals who have complex needs and handle sensitive information responsibly.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese, English, and Spanish is mandatory, both oral and written. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Brazil will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, and compliance with government regulations. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment for 24 months.
