Job Overview: The Snr. IT Officer plays a crucial role in providing technical support to end-users, internal users, and partners. This position serves as the first and second line of support for issues related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, servers, network connectivity, and remote access. The officer is responsible for simulating or recreating processes to resolve operating difficulties and may interact with network services, software systems engineering, and applications development to restore service and identify core problems. The role requires collaboration with the US DTT Operations team and US DTT Infrastructure team to coordinate support, project delivery, upgrades, and routine tasks. The Snr. IT Officer is expected to maintain the office IT system, ensuring optimal operation of all office devices and end-user computing environments, while also managing vendor performance and ensuring compliance with organizational security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Snr. IT Officer will provide comprehensive support for computer hardware, software, printers, applications, operating systems, servers, and network devices. Responsibilities include managing and monitoring endpoint and server security using Microsoft Defender Antivirus and other Microsoft security tools, performing regular backups of servers and user files, and conducting software installations and configurations on company computers. The officer will maintain the office IT system, upgrade it as required, and interact with a broad range of end-users to provide effective support. Additionally, the officer will manage relationships with third-party suppliers and vendors, ensuring that their performance aligns with FHI 360's expectations. The role also involves tracking and managing incidents to resolution, promoting technical and operational best practices, training staff on newly deployed technologies, and enforcing FHI 360’s policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of demonstrated experience in supporting the Information Technology function within medium or large organizations is required. Candidates should have solid knowledge and experience with incident management and operations services tools and systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), and Active Directory. Effective communication skills are essential, along with the ability to interact with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Experience with telecommunications systems, server support, and networking is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent international qualifications will also be considered. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting the IT infrastructure of the organization.
Experience: The position requires 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in the field of Information Technology, specifically in supporting IT functions within medium to large organizations. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing IT incidents and operations, demonstrating proficiency with various IT tools and systems, and effectively supporting end-users in a diverse environment. Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is also preferred, as it provides valuable context for the unique challenges and requirements of the sector.
