Job Overview:
The Driver position is crucial for the successful implementation of the EpiC GHS program activities in Ghana. The primary responsibility of the Driver is to provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for staff, consortium partners, consultants, and authorized goods. This role requires a strong commitment to road safety regulations, organizational policies, and security procedures. The Driver must maintain assigned vehicles in good working condition and demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact. The position also involves planning routes in advance, ensuring the safety of passengers and vehicle contents, and providing basic administrative support when not driving. The Driver will play a key role in supporting field missions and program activities by ensuring dependable transport, which is essential for the success of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's duties and responsibilities include: Safely transporting staff, consultants, partners, and visitors to various official destinations such as meetings, project sites, and airports. Supporting field missions and program activities by ensuring timely and dependable transport. Delivering documents, equipment, supplies, and other authorized items as required. Planning routes in advance while considering traffic conditions, road safety, and security. Conducting daily vehicle checks including fuel, oil, water, brakes, tires, and lights to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy. Keeping assigned vehicles clean and properly secured at all times. Maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records, and mileage reports. Arranging routine servicing and promptly reporting mechanical faults to the supervisor. Ensuring that vehicle insurance, roadworthiness certificates, and other documentation are valid and available. Adhering strictly to Ghana Road Traffic Regulations and FHI 360’s transport/travel and safety policies. Following organizational security protocols, especially during field travel and emergency situations. Ensuring the safety of passengers and vehicle contents at all times. Reporting accidents, incidents, or security concerns immediately in line with reporting procedures. Providing basic administrative or logistical support when not driving, as requested. Assisting with loading and unloading of goods and equipment. Supporting office operations during peak periods or special events.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Driver position include a Basic Education Certificate, a minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an International NGO or in a corporate environment. The candidate must possess a valid Ghanaian driver’s license with a clean driving record and no major traffic violations. Basic knowledge of computing is also required. The ability to write and speak basic English is essential, and knowledge of local languages is considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge of Ghana’s road networks and traffic regulations, as well as the ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively. A good understanding of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical issues is necessary, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging road or security conditions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Basic Education Certificate. This foundational education is essential for understanding the basic requirements of the job and for effective communication and documentation.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience. This experience should preferably be with an International NGO, especially those funded by the U.S. Government, or in a corporate environment. Proven experience driving in both urban and rural areas in Ghana is essential, as is familiarity with the Greater Accra region and other areas of Ghana.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is the ability to write and speak basic English. Knowledge of local languages is considered an advantage, as it can facilitate better communication with local communities and stakeholders.
