The office aims to raise international awareness regarding youth issues and to ensure that the voices of young people are heard in decision-making processes.

Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the UN Youth Office's communication efforts. This position involves assisting in the creation of visual communication products, which include website blogs, press releases, banners, infographics, newsletters, and PowerPoint presentations. The intern will also be responsible for designing, planning, and executing social media campaigns, which entails monitoring and responding to audience interactions. Additionally, the intern will create editorial calendars for social media content, track engagement metrics, and analyze data to optimize content performance. The role also includes producing multimedia content such as videos and photos from UN Youth Office events, supporting meetings and event planning, and coordinating various communication activities. The intern will be expected to perform other related duties as required, contributing to the overall mission of the UN Youth Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include:
  • Assisting in the development of visual communications products, ensuring adherence to the Office’s visual identity and organizational brand guidelines.
  • Designing, planning, and executing social media campaigns, including the management of audience interactions.
  • Creating and maintaining weekly and monthly editorial calendars for social media content, scheduling posts accordingly.
  • Tracking social media engagement metrics and analyzing data to identify high-performing content and opportunities for optimization.
  • Producing videos and photographs of events organized by the UN Youth Office.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of meetings, events, outreach initiatives, and other coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">communication coordination activities.
  • Performing additional duties as required to support the Office's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Additionally, candidates should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required for applicants to the UN internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme, a field of study related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate good knowledge of social media platforms and scheduling tools, as well as proficiency in standard software applications in the Microsoft Suite, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint. Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud is desirable, along with knowledge of video editing tools like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or CapCut. Experience in youth engagement or related processes is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills relevant to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. Experience in youth engagement or related processes is advantageous and will be considered a valuable asset in the selection process.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance the candidate's application.
