Job Overview: The Online Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting IOM’s MTM sub-regional international and national team by developing high-quality training video content. This position involves creating a series of short training videos that cover various aspects of the enumerator's role, ethical interviewing principles, communication skills, and handling sensitive topics related to migration. The volunteer will be responsible for reviewing existing IOM data collection tools and guidelines, consulting with IOM staff to align the training content with organizational objectives, and ensuring that the videos are culturally sensitive and accessible to diverse audiences. The final deliverables will be a set of engaging training videos that can be used for both online platforms and offline training sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key tasks for the Online Volunteer include:
Preparatory Work: Reviewing existing IOM data collection tools, questionnaires, training manuals, and terminology; conducting consultations with IOM staff to understand the structure, tone, and objectives of the training content.
Content Design and Scripting: Developing a detailed storyboard and script for all training modules, which includes topics such as the enumerator's role, ethical interviewing principles, communication skills, migration-related terms, critical questioning techniques, handling sensitive topics, and photo-taking techniques.
Video Production: Recording and producing a series of short, high-quality training videos (5–10 minutes each) using narration, animation, visuals, and scenario-based demonstrations; ensuring content is culturally sensitive and engaging; adding subtitles in English and Russian (and Kazakh, if requested).
Review and Finalization: Presenting draft versions of the video content for IOM’s review and feedback; revising and finalizing videos based on comments; delivering final versions in suitable formats for online platforms and offline training sessions.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in video production, including experience with scripting, storyboarding, and editing. They should have a good understanding of migration issues and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. Familiarity with ethical interviewing practices and the ability to create culturally sensitive content are essential. The candidate should also be proficient in using video editing software and have a creative approach to content design.
Educational Background: A background in communications, media production, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with experience in training development or educational content creation will be highly regarded. Knowledge of migration issues and experience working with diverse populations will be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in video production, including scripting, filming, and editing. Experience in developing training materials or educational content is highly desirable. Familiarity with migration-related topics and ethical interviewing practices will enhance the candidate's suitability for this role.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as the training videos will be produced in English. Knowledge of Russian is also required, and knowledge of Kazakh is a plus. The ability to create subtitles in these languages is essential for the role.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role, and the duration of the contract may vary based on project needs. The role is expected to be part-time, allowing flexibility for the volunteer.
