Job Overview:
The Communication Officer position within the EIB Group Media is a pivotal role that involves planning, coordinating, and managing communication activities specifically targeting Brussels-based media and EU institutions. The officer will be responsible for shaping outreach initiatives and implementing the EIB Group's communication strategy, ensuring that key messages are effectively disseminated to enhance the bank's visibility and reputation. This role requires navigating a complex policy environment and developing both internal and external networks to support the EIB Group's objectives. The officer will work closely with the Head of the Strategic Priorities and Messaging Unit and collaborate with colleagues across the Communication Department and the EIB Brussels Office, contributing to the overall communication strategy and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication Officer will engage proactively in various communication activities to convey EIB Group priorities and key messages to journalists, influencers, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include building and developing effective working relationships with communication counterparts in EU institutions, coordinating messaging, and identifying impactful communication opportunities. The officer will also coordinate communication outputs related to key EU events and policies, serve as a key contact for Brussels-based media, and promote EIB Group experts as thought leaders. Additional duties include planning and executing tailored campaigns, drafting press releases and communication plans, preparing briefings for leadership, and recommending optimal channels for communication delivery to maximize reach and impact.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor) in economics, finance, international relations, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in media, corporate, or institutional communications is required, with a focus on strategic communications and public relations. Knowledge of communications work at a senior level in a complex institutional environment is essential, along with a good network and experience working with Brussels-based correspondents and EU media. Excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of the EU institutional and political framework are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a university degree, preferably in economics, finance, international relations, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the EIB's mission and the broader EU context in which it operates.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in media and/or corporate communications, particularly in strategic communications and public relations. Candidates should have experience working in a senior capacity within a complex institutional environment, demonstrating the ability to navigate the intricacies of EU institutions and media relations effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and/or French is mandatory, with a good knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of additional EU languages would be advantageous. Proficiency is defined as achieving level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
