Job Overview:
The Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Associate position is embedded within a development unit that aims to implement innovative economic interventions while advocating for the economic rights of refugees. This role is crucial in aligning the livelihoods and economic inclusion efforts with the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), which emphasizes the importance of mobilizing various actors to enhance refugee self-reliance and alleviate the pressures on host countries. The incumbent will work closely with UNHCR partners, government agencies, and the private sector to improve economic inclusion and self-reliance for both persons of concern (PoC) and host community members. The position requires regular field travel to support UNHCR field colleagues and partners, and it involves documenting good practices and generating knowledge to enhance collaboration among stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Associate will be responsible for exploring partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance the economic inclusion of UNHCR PoC. This includes collaborating with economic development agencies to adapt their programs for inclusivity, working with the private sector to integrate UNHCR PoC into their labor force and supply chains, and engaging with financial service providers to improve financial inclusion. The incumbent will also support the implementation of socioeconomic surveys to inform targeting and monitoring of development programs, participate in assessments with stakeholders, and provide technical assistance on livelihoods interventions to ensure they are market-based. Additionally, the Associate will prepare field reports, manage risks, and perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have relevant experience in facilitating the economic inclusion of vulnerable groups, ideally in diverse field contexts. They should have experience working with private sector entities, NGOs, UN organizations, and government authorities in areas related to livelihood programming such as financial inclusion, employment, and local economic development. Knowledge of the latest developments in the livelihoods sector and completion of UNHCR learning programs or relevant training is desirable. Essential functional skills include strategic planning and advocacy for refugee socioeconomic rights.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma with three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant work experience. The field of education is not specifically applicable, but relevant fields include Management, Economics, Financial Management, and Agriculture.

Experience:
Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience for those with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience should include facilitating economic inclusion for marginalized groups and working in partnership with various stakeholders in livelihood programming.

Languages:
Knowledge of English is mandatory, and familiarity with the UN working language of the duty station is required if it is not English. For national professional jobs, knowledge of the local language is also necessary. Additional language skills are considered an asset.
