Job Overview:
The Advanced Subject Matter Expert is a pivotal role within FHI 360, responsible for setting the technical design and direction for large, complex projects. This position requires a deep understanding of the functional domain and the ability to ensure the quality of existing projects across various awards. The expert will oversee global operations, establish best practices, and lead business development efforts. Additionally, they will mentor staff members and manage budgets while serving as the primary contact for donors and stakeholders on technical matters. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Advanced Subject Matter Expert include:
  • Technical Requirements: - Address routine problems using established procedures and policies. - Plan and schedule workflow within technical guidelines. - Serve as a technical expert, creating guidelines and policies for subject matter areas. - Interpret findings and recommend improvements.
  • Project Design Implementation: - Oversee the technical aspects of project plans, ensuring alignment with budget constraints. - Provide technical leadership in project design, development, and implementation. - Maintain dialogue with field counterparts and technical staff.
  • Business Development and Client/Funder Support: - Lead proposal research and design, developing relationships with potential clients and funders. - Set strategies for new business development and lead proposal strategy meetings.
  • Partner/Sub-Award Management: - Finalize partner/sub-awards and ensure intellectual property protection.
  • Staff Leadership and Training: - Supervise team members and lead professional development efforts.
  • Project/Program Reporting: - Prepare financial and technical reports for sponsors and lead presentations of project deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: - Ensure technical deliverables meet best practices and contractual obligations. - Identify risks and create mitigation plans.
  • Applied Knowledge & Skills: - Assist senior management in determining organizational objectives and policies. - Represent the organization in technical meetings and briefings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development, or a related field. Certifications in a relevant field are preferred. The role requires a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in a specialized technical or medical field, with documented experience as a speaker at conferences and authorship of technical guidelines. Experience in developing strategies and performance standards for projects is essential, along with prior work in NGOs, government agencies, or private organizations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in relevant fields such as Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development, or related areas. Experience:
