Job Overview: The Regional Advisor for the Americas Hub will report directly to the Head of the Americas Hub and work closely with the MSF Access team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the understanding of regional contexts, maintaining and expanding key networks, and engaging with relevant stakeholders. The primary objective is to support the design and implementation of effective advocacy strategies directed towards governments, non-governmental organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and the research community in the Americas. The advisor will be responsible for analyzing regional policies and stakeholders, identifying trends and opportunities, and providing strategic advice to ensure that MSF's Access strategic objectives are met both regionally and globally. This position requires a proactive approach to advocacy, collaboration with various MSF entities, and the ability to contextualize global objectives within the regional landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main activities of the Regional Advisor include developing systems for continuous monitoring and analysis of policies and stakeholders relevant to MSF Access strategic objectives, analyzing regional trends and opportunities, and providing strategic advice on advocacy strategies. The advisor will work collaboratively with MSF Access colleagues and operations to design and implement advocacy strategies that align with the Access Strategic Plan objectives. Additionally, the advisor will contribute to the development of regional analysis and advocacy strategies, strengthen engagement with key stakeholders, represent MSF Access in various health platforms, and support MSF Operations in understanding medical-political issues affecting access in the field. The advisor will also manage short-term researchers or consultants on special projects related to the position.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of healthcare access issues. A proven track record in advocacy, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively are also required.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in public health, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in advocacy, policy analysis, or healthcare access will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or related fields, preferably within the humanitarian or healthcare sectors. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the healthcare landscape in the Americas.
Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory, while proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region will be considered an advantage.
