Job Posting Organization:
The internship is located within the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS) of the United Nations. CDOTS is dedicated to providing operational training, language and communications training, and training on the UN’s enterprise resource planning system. Job Overview:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the UN's mission while gaining valuable insights and practical skills in the field of learning and development. The intern will work under the supervision of the Training Officer and will support the design, development, and implementation of HR-related training programs. The role involves creating and updating training materials, including e-learning modules and training manuals, as well as collecting and analyzing data related to learning and development initiatives to measure their effectiveness. The intern will also explore innovative learning technologies and tools to enhance the training experience and conduct research on learning and development trends and best practices. Collaboration with team members and stakeholders is essential to ensure the smooth execution of training initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of HR-related training programs. This includes assisting in the creation and updating of training materials, such as e-learning modules and training manuals/user guides. The intern will collect and analyze data related to learning and development initiatives to measure their effectiveness and suggest improvements. Additionally, the intern will explore and recommend innovative learning technologies and tools to enhance the training experience. Conducting research on learning and development trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies is also part of the role. The intern will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of training initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Proficiency in standard office software systems (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar) is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in instructional design and demonstrated proficiency in content authoring software (Articulate 360 and/or Adobe Captivate), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro), and using a Moodle-based Learning Management System.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or PhD Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be attached to the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, it is essential that they have a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship they are applying for. This means that relevant academic experience or coursework in learning and development, human resources, or a related field is beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and knowledge of other official UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish is considered an asset.

The internship is available in person in New York or remote, with full-time or part-time modalities considered. The expected duration of the internship is between three to six months, with a desired start date of 16 February 202
  • Interns who are not United States citizens or permanent residents will be required to obtain a G4 visa and are responsible for ensuring they have a valid visa and employment authorization. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. The minimum duration of the internship is three months, which can be extended up to six months. Interns are expected to work on a full-time or part-time basis under the supervision of a staff member. Flexible working arrangements may be available, but interns must meet specific requirements to receive recognition of service. A completed online application, including a Cover Note and Candidate Profile, is required, and incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
