This program, inspired by the El Sistema methodology, provides free music education to foster life skills, emotional resilience, and social inclusion through collective musical practice. The consultant will ensure that all activities align with the Education Section’s strategic framework and will be responsible for providing technical, programmatic, and coordination support to ensure high-quality implementation and strategic scaling of the program. The consultant will also be involved in the pilot phase currently underway in Yaoundé and will help in planning for national expansion.

  • Facilitate training and capacity-building sessions for local partners and stakeholders involved in the program.
  • Ensure compliance with UNICEF’s policies and procedures throughout the program implementation process.
  • Engage with communities to promote the program and encourage participation among vulnerable children and adolescents.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a secondary education in a relevant field, preferably in Music or a related area. Additional qualifications or certifications in music education or pedagogy will be considered advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in musical skills and knowledge of musical pedagogy. Experience in developing country contexts and familiarity with emergency situations will be viewed favorably, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to adapt to challenging environments and work effectively with vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in French or English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is not classified as a staff member under the UN regulations, meaning that consultants will not receive benefits such as leave entitlements or medical insurance. The selected candidate will be responsible for their tax liabilities and must ensure that their visa and health insurance are valid for the duration of the contract. Additionally, candidates must confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19 with a WHO-endorsed vaccine before commencing the assignment, unless they are working remotely and not interacting with UNICEF premises or communities.
