Job Overview:
The Principal Engineer II Renewable Energy (RE) plays a crucial role in overseeing the technical aspects of projects within the Renewable Energy sectors. This position is primarily focused on the project preparation phase of commercial deals, with some involvement in project implementation and monitoring. The Principal Engineer II RE is expected to assess project opportunities and risks from a technical perspective, while also promoting the integration of sustainable energy solutions across various sectors and banking teams. The role requires collaboration with policy dialogue, client management, and business development efforts. The Principal Engineer II will be recognized for their expertise in handling complex projects and identifying technical risks associated with renewable energy initiatives. They will also work closely with other specialists to develop synergistic project opportunities that enhance value and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal Engineer II will independently lead and supervise technical due diligence to evaluate the technical and commercial viability of projects. Responsibilities include screening initial project proposals, preparing project documentation, and providing technical input for internal approvals. The Engineer will offer innovative solutions to facilitate project signing and delivery while maintaining the bank's integrity. They will review financial models, validate expected outputs of renewable energy investments, and maintain benchmarks for various technologies. The role also involves contributing to policy development, supporting marketing activities, and providing coaching to team members on technical aspects of project management. Additionally, the Principal Engineer II will liaise with various departments to influence EBRD's policies and strategies effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, ideally with chartered engineer status. A proven track record of at least 10 years in the renewable energy sector is essential, preferably with experience in technical consultancy or advising international financial institutions (IFIs) on wind or solar projects. Candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of contractual frameworks, risk identification, and mitigation strategies in renewable energy projects. Familiarity with procurement processes and exposure to utility-scale project contracts is also required. Strong analytical and technical skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, are crucial for this role.

Educational Background:
A degree qualification in a relevant engineering or technical discipline is mandatory. Candidates with chartered engineer status will be given preference. The educational background should ideally include extensive practical experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in technical consultancy or advisory roles related to wind or solar projects.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in the renewable energy sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading and managing projects, particularly in the areas of technical due diligence and monitoring of electricity generation projects, including both conventional and renewable energy sources. Experience in working with cross-cultural teams and a sound understanding of banking and business principles are also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should also possess good report writing skills. Proficiency in additional languages from one of the Bank’s countries of operation, in addition to Turkish, is desirable but not mandatory.
