Since March 2020, SI has been active in France across five territories, focusing on populations living in precarious housing situations such as slums or squats, who have limited access to basic services, including drinking water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products. Despite the recognition of the rights to water and sanitation by the UN since 2010, access to these basic services is not currently considered a fundamental right in France. Through advocacy activities, SI aims to achieve recognition and effective implementation of the right to drinking water in France.
Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is under the authority of the Grant Coordinator and in connection with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. The intern will support the production of project proposals, follow up on grants, and manage institutional and operational partnerships. The objectives of the internship include assisting in the administrative and operational management of grants, discovering the programs and areas of expertise of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL, acquiring in-depth knowledge of the intervention context in France, mastering project management and financing tools, understanding internal procedures and the rules of major donors, and facilitating the flow of information between headquarters, desks, and field operations. The intern will gain valuable insights into the workings of humanitarian aid and the specific challenges faced in the context of water access and sanitation in France.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
Project Proposals: Analyzing calls for projects and assisting in the writing, revision, and submission of proposals. Managing the archiving of proposals, reports, and contractual documents. Supporting the interpretation of donor rules and participating in project kick-off meetings. Contributing to the identification of new institutional and associative partners.
Reporting: Monitoring the reporting calendar (RFU) and anticipating deadlines. Assisting in the writing, compilation, and proofreading of intermediate and final donor reports.
Partnerships & Communication: Monitoring visibility and communication obligations of donors. Harmonizing project documents according to the graphic charter. Participating in coordination meetings and providing occasional support for meeting minutes. Contributing to partnership engagement and communication activities (newsletters, events, press conferences).
HR Support/Induction: Updating integration packs and organizing briefings and debriefings. Coordinating administrative procedures related to the arrival and departure of teams.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of a BAC+4 level education, with a background in political science, social sciences, public policy, law, or humanitarian project management. A strong interest and knowledge of water-related issues and precariousness is essential. Candidates should possess good writing, analytical, and drafting skills, as well as a desire to work in a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required. Strong synthesis skills and interpersonal abilities are necessary, along with proactivity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and a commitment to the principles and work of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a BAC+4 level degree in fields such as political science, social sciences, public policy, law, or humanitarian project management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges related to water access and sanitation.
Experience: While specific prior experience may not be mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the humanitarian sector and the issues surrounding water access and sanitation. Any relevant internships or volunteer experiences in similar fields will be considered an asset, as they will provide practical insights into the operational aspects of humanitarian aid.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, given the location and context of the internship. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for communication with international partners and stakeholders. Additional languages relevant to the regions of operation may be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: The internship is based in the offices of the France Mission of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL, ideally located in Marseille or at one of the bases. The contract duration is for 6 months, and a mandatory internship agreement is required. The legal compensation is set at 5.60 euros per hour, calculated pro-rata based on actual hours worked per month (approximately 154 hours per month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each). The organization also provides meal vouchers (60% coverage) and transportation allowances (50% coverage).
