Job Overview: The Associate Economics Officer position is integral to the Financial Cooperation and Integration Team (FCI) within the Economic Research and Development Impact Department (ERDI) at ADB. The role involves supporting regional financial cooperation and integration initiatives, particularly through the ASEAN+3 Disaster Risk Finance Initiative (DRFI) and the Asian Bond Markets Initiative (ABMI). Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Economics Officer include:
Conducting economic research and providing technical assistance related to financial markets and instruments, particularly in the ASEAN+3 region.
Supporting the completion of publications on financial markets, including reports and guides related to disaster risk finance.
Drafting technical assistance concept notes, documents, and progress reports in collaboration with TA managers.
Administering technical assistance projects from inception to completion, including budget management and liaising with consultants and agencies.
Presenting knowledge-sharing programs on DRFI and ABMI to stakeholders and preparing speeches for ADB management.
Organizing workshops and training sessions to disseminate information and build capacity among ASEAN central banks.
Collaborating with other ADB departments to enhance performance on financial cooperation initiatives.
Contributing to the development of economic and financial databases and managing content for the AsianBondsOnline website.
Undertaking administrative tasks related to work programs and budget frameworks, and preparing briefing papers and presentations for management meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field, with a Master's degree being a distinct advantage. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the financial sector or public sector is required. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the research process, analytical skills, and familiarity with multilateral financial institutions. Proficiency in written and verbal English is essential, with demonstrated ability to produce meeting summaries and other documents.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Business, or Finance. A Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred and will provide a competitive edge in the selection process.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, which can be gained in various sectors including banking, securities, insurance, or public sector roles such as those in ministries of finance, central banks, or international organizations.
