Job Overview: The Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist at UN Women India is responsible for managing the partnerships portfolio within the country office. This role involves ensuring timely and high-quality reporting for resources mobilized, building and maintaining relationships with partners and donors, and designing and implementing the Resource Mobilization Strategy for the country office. The specialist provides strategic advice to senior management and program teams regarding new partnership opportunities and facilitates the formulation of strategic programming and projects. The incumbent plays a crucial role in effective partnership building and resource mobilization, advising senior management on strategic opportunities and supporting overall resource mobilization efforts. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for monitoring and evaluating outcomes, leading the analysis and documentation of programmatic lessons learned to enhance resource mobilization efforts. The role requires close cooperation with senior management, program and operations colleagues, and other stakeholders, including UN Agencies, government officials, and civil society organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and manage UN Women’s strategic partnerships in the India Country Office: Manage and coordinate relationships with key partners; provide technical inputs to senior management’s efforts at the country level to develop new and innovative partnerships; set and monitor annual priorities, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for national partnerships; provide strategic advice on building and maintaining partnerships and positioning with potential donors, including High-net Worth Individuals (HNIs) and the Corporate Sector; advise on the design and implementation of effective advocacy strategies for proactive targeting of partners and donors.
Manage and facilitate the implementation of resource mobilization strategies and initiatives: Oversee the development and implementation of differentiated donor fundraising strategies aligned with country-level activities; develop targeted products and initiatives to mobilize programmatic resources; gather information on project/program pipelines and resource needs through collaboration with country-based counterparts; provide technical support for project proposal development; conduct donor studies and research to identify funding opportunities; update the resource mobilization strategy as needed.
Build trust and maintain effective relationships with donors: Provide technical support to the Country Representative and senior managers for donor consultations; act as a direct entry point for donors; maintain donor profiles and databases; identify opportunities for securing additional non-core resources; support the drafting and review of partner-specific agreements and funding proposals.
Coordinate the submission of high-quality and timely reports to donors: Maintain compliance systems for grants and agreements; support program managers in preparing donor reports; coordinate with the Monitoring and Reporting Specialist for results-based reporting.
Provide advice and support to strengthen internal resource mobilization capacity: Advise on resource mobilization procedures and guidelines; facilitate training for program staff on resource mobilization; support the creation of communication products and positions.
Participate in knowledge building and sharing: Contribute to knowledge products and mechanisms to position UN Women effectively; enhance organizational learning through online tools and guidelines; monitor emerging issues affecting partnerships and resource contributions.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of gender equality and women's rights issues, demonstrated ability to interact effectively with government representatives, proven networking skills, and the ability to mobilize support for UN Women. Strong negotiating skills, knowledge of the UN system, and familiarity with inter-governmental processes are essential. The candidate should also have strong IT skills, including proficiency in databases and office software, as well as strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, business management, social sciences, public administration, international relations, communications, women's studies, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in resource mobilization, communications/advocacy, and/or business development. Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment is essential, along with experience working with civil society organizations, international institutions, and donors. Experience within the UN system is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi is required. Knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset, and knowledge of a local language is also beneficial.
