Job Overview: The Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the FCAS in terms of information management and technology. The incumbent will be responsible for providing data analysis and support for various administrative functions, including budget and human resources management. This position requires a proactive approach to formulating and monitoring program performance measures, preparing budget submissions, and managing grants and projects. The officer will also supervise the Information and Facilities Services Unit, ensuring compliance with administrative requirements and effective program planning. The role involves conducting research on information technology applications, assessing the use of information systems, and providing advisory services to enhance information management practices within FCAS. The incumbent will be expected to represent the section in various forums and participate in training initiatives related to information management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Officer include:
Contributing to the strategic direction of FCAS regarding information management and technology.
Providing data analysis and support for facilities and administrative functions.
Assisting in the formulation and monitoring of program performance measures.
Supporting budget preparation and management of grants and projects.
Supervising the Information and Facilities Services Unit and ensuring compliance with administrative requirements.
Conducting research on information technology applications relevant to FCAS.
Evaluating and recommending improvements to information management practices.

Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong foundation in information management, archival practices, and electronic data maintenance. Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in information management, information science, information systems, computer engineering, administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in information management or a related area is required. This includes at least five years of experience in data management and analytics, as well as experience in developing IT solutions and application implementation. Candidates should also have a minimum of two years of experience in generating and analyzing BI reports in Umoja or a similar system, along with experience in service management on platforms like i-Need. Experience in asset and equipment management and reporting is required, while experience in supporting administrative functions such as finance and budget management is desirable.
Languages: English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level III in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, but it is not specified as a requirement for this position.
