Job Overview:
The Engineering Supervisor position is crucial for overseeing all plant operations-related functions within the World Bank's Headquarters Campus in Washington, DC. The role involves managing a team of Engineer Mechanics and Operating Engineers, ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities are conducted efficiently and cost-effectively. The incumbent will be responsible for the planned preventive maintenance program, service response, and emergency repairs, ensuring that the engineering systems operate continuously and meet industry standards. The position requires working evening shifts from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager of the Engineering and Operations Team. This role is integral to maintaining the operational integrity of the Bank's facilities and ensuring a safe and functional environment for all staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Supervisor will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring the continuous operation of engineering systems in the assigned buildings, developing and implementing an annual preventive maintenance program, reviewing construction plans for quality control, coordinating with Project Managers and Building Managers, assisting in budget development and monitoring expenditures, advising on repair and replacement projects, communicating scheduled and emergency service interruptions, monitoring service requests, maintaining a client-focused approach, and directing the performance of the engineering team. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of fifteen years of experience in the operation and maintenance of physical plants for large office buildings or equivalent facilities is required. Additionally, candidates must hold a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineer's license or an equivalent certification. In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and control systems is essential, along with proven supervisory skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS), particularly Siemens Apogee and Desigo, and experience with facilities management systems are also necessary.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is required for this position. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in the principles of engineering and facilities management, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to oversee complex plant operations effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically at least fifteen years in the operation and maintenance of physical plants for large office buildings or similar facilities. This extensive experience should include hands-on management of engineering systems and a proven track record of successfully supervising teams in a facilities management context.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. While not required, proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse workforce and international partners.
