Job Overview:
The National Youth Empowerment Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the Bahrain Youth Empowerment and Research Programme, which aligns with national priorities outlined in the Bahrain Economic Vision 203
  • This position involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and aims to ensure that young Bahrainis actively participate in shaping the future of their nation. The programme consists of three interconnected core activities: 'Jalsat Shabab' (Youth Dialogues), a Research Fellowship Programme, and a strategic study aimed at enhancing youth participation in civic dialogue. The Coordinator is responsible for bridging the gap between grassroots dialogues and high-level policy, strengthening youth-policy linkages, building national youth research capacity, and generating a strategic evidence base on youth participation in Bahrain. The role requires effective management of youth-related activities, coordination of research initiatives, and engagement with various stakeholders to ensure that youth perspectives are systematically captured and translated into evidence that informs national decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Youth Empowerment Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination of youth-related activities conducted by UNFPA in Bahrain, including the Research Fellowship Programme and the Jalsat Shabab series. Key responsibilities include preparing quarterly progress reports, analyzing policy papers and national development plans, mapping the landscape of youth civic engagement, developing actionable recommendations to strengthen youth inclusion in decision-making, and assessing the effectiveness of existing youth engagement platforms. The Coordinator will also prepare inputs for UNFPA management regarding the Research Fellowship, monitor its progress, and ensure alignment with national and international priorities. Event management for the Jalsat Shabab series will involve planning dialogue sessions, coordinating relationships with partners, documenting sessions, and preparing reports on insights and participant demographics. Additionally, the Coordinator will carry out other relevant activities as assigned by the Representative.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the National Youth Empowerment Coordinator position should possess a strong understanding of youth empowerment, civic engagement, and policy development. They should have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including youth, policymakers, and civil society organizations. Educational Background:

The position is based in Manama, Bahrain, and is classified as a full-time role. UN Specialist Volunteers in Bahrain are entitled to a volunteer living allowance of BHD 918.33, an entry lumpsum of $400, annual and learning leaves, and free medical and life insurance. Volunteers also have access to various learning platforms. Living conditions in Bahrain are typical of a high-income Gulf country, with modern infrastructure and high-quality healthcare.
