The organization employs a diverse team of professionals across multiple locations, including Dublin, Limerick, Cork, and Galway, focusing on providing comprehensive support to vulnerable individuals and families.

Job Overview:
The Consultant for Group Supervision Sessions will play a crucial role in delivering group supervision sessions to IOM staff involved in the Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) project. This position is designed to foster a reflective practice environment where staff can discuss their interactions with beneficiaries and develop their professional skills. The supervision sessions aim to provide a safe and confidential space for staff to reflect on their work, address personal and professional challenges, and enhance their overall effectiveness in supporting vulnerable populations. The consultant will be responsible for facilitating these sessions, ensuring that they are structured, supportive, and conducive to open dialogue. The focus will be on helping staff navigate the complexities of their roles, particularly in relation to the potential impacts of vicarious trauma, and promoting self-care practices among team members. The consultant will also be expected to provide constructive feedback and guidance to enhance the staff's professional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Consultant include:
  • Delivering group supervision sessions for IOM staff, ensuring that each session is structured and focused on reflective practice.
  • Creating a safe and trusted environment for staff to share their experiences and challenges.
  • Encouraging staff to engage in critical analysis of their work and interactions with beneficiaries.
  • Providing clear and constructive feedback to enhance staff performance and professional growth.
  • Demonstrating respect for both IOM staff and beneficiaries, fostering an inclusive atmosphere during sessions.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all discussions and personal information shared during supervision.
  • Being aware of the effects of vicarious trauma on staff and promoting strategies to mitigate these effects.
  • Upholding IOM’s data protection policy and safeguarding guidance in all interactions.
  • Facilitating four groups of 8-10 staff members, with each group participating in one session per month. 1
  • Collaborating with IOM management to ensure the supervision aligns with organizational goals and staff needs.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:
  • A qualified Psychological Therapist, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or Psychotherapist with a supervision qualification.
  • Accreditation with a recognized professional body in the field of psychology or psychotherapy.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and supervision related to their practice.
  • Professional liability insurance to cover their supervision practice.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups, particularly refugees or vulnerable migrants, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of group dynamics and the ability to facilitate discussions effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a relevant educational background in psychology, psychotherapy, or a related field. A postgraduate degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or psychotherapy is preferred, along with specialized training in supervision practices. Continuous professional development and adherence to ethical standards set by professional bodies are essential.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, ideally with a minimum of three to five years of professional practice in a clinical or counseling setting. Experience in providing supervision or training to other professionals is highly valued. Familiarity with the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of migration and mental health, will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all sessions and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken by the migrant populations in Ireland, would be considered a valuable asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to connect with diverse staff and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is categorized as a Consultancy Contract – Category B. The consultant will be expected to deliver group supervision sessions on a monthly basis, with payments made monthly based on the number of sessions conducted. The sessions may take place in Citywest or online, and some travel may be required. The role is part-time, and the consultant will not be an employee of IOM but will work as an independent contractor. The position emphasizes the importance of maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality throughout the supervision process.
