Job Overview: The Outreach Associate will operate under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the Head of Unit in Dublin, with direct supervision from the Senior Outreach Associate. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the project aimed at assisting Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTP’s) in Ireland. This position will focus on providing assistance to BOTP’s in Emergency Designated Accommodation settings throughout Ireland. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver orientation sessions, provide essential information, and offer one-on-one assistance to the beneficiaries. Additionally, the role will encompass various program-related responsibilities as required, including the implementation and monitoring of project activities, data analysis, and the development of outreach strategies. The Outreach Associate will play a crucial role in ensuring that BOTP’s receive accurate and relevant information regarding their lives in Ireland, thereby facilitating their integration and support within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Outreach Associate include, but are not limited to: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities; retrieving, compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics; supporting the Senior Outreach Associate in developing and implementing the Outreach and Information Provision strategy; delivering information sessions to BOTP’s in Emergency Designated Accommodation settings; coordinating with focal points at Emergency Designated Accommodation Centres to schedule visits and sessions; maintaining coordination with various organizational units and external parties; disseminating key information to BOTP’s; ensuring that cases with vulnerabilities are referred as necessary; providing translation and interpretation services; drafting status reports and correspondence on project issues; preparing and updating reports, briefing notes, and other documentation; responding to complex information requests; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; participating in meetings and conferences; assisting in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities and stakeholders; monitoring the work of implementing partners; and providing guidance/training to new or junior staff members.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates must demonstrate experience in disseminating information to large audiences in various settings, working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The educational qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid academic foundation to support their professional experience in the field of migration and humanitarian assistance.
Experience: The Outreach Associate should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience if holding a Bachelor’s degree, or five years if holding a school diploma. Experience should include working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations, as well as disseminating information to large audiences in diverse settings. Familiarity with international humanitarian organizations and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, and candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to communicate and present information clearly and effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, along with proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and candidates will be evaluated on their language skills during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments. The ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages is crucial for this role, given the diverse backgrounds of the beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Ireland will be considered. Any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon funding confirmation. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months. Candidates must also be certified as medically fit for appointment, and their residency, visa, and authorizations will be verified by the concerned government where applicable.
