Job Overview:

Interns will engage in various activities that contribute to the organization's mission of providing evidence-based training and policy guidance to governments and stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region. The internship is designed to enhance the interns' skills through direct collaboration with professional staff and experts. Interns will be involved in research, analysis, and the development of training materials, while also supporting the organization of regional dialogues and forums. This position is available for both remote and onsite formats, allowing flexibility for candidates. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member, gaining invaluable academic and applied skills throughout their tenure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a variety of responsibilities that may vary based on their background and the needs of their supervisor. Key duties include contributing to policy research on contemporary trade issues, conducting literature analysis, drafting background documents and policy notes, preparing presentations and training materials, and supporting data management tasks. Interns will also assist in organizing online and onsite events, including seminars and meetings, which involve administrative, logistical, and communication tasks. Specific responsibilities may include editing and formatting papers, identifying and analyzing data sources, and maintaining databases. Interns are expected to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet at least one of the following qualifications: a degree or enrollment in a graduate program in Economics or Laws, experience in international trade or development policies, or proficiency in data management and analysis. Strong drafting skills in English and media communication skills are also highly valued. The internship is open to individuals who are committed to contributing to the UN's mission and who possess relevant academic backgrounds and skills that align with the responsibilities of the position.

Educational Background:
Applicants should possess an academic background in one of the following areas: economics, international trade economics, development economics, econometrics, data management, data analysis, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law. Candidates enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree are eligible to apply. While work experience is not mandatory for applying to the United Nations Internship Programme, candidates with experience in international trade, development policies, or data analysis will be given priority.
