Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director, Nutrition will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing nutrition-related activities under the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project in Nepal. This position requires a strategic approach to implement ambitious work plans aimed at improving nutrition outcomes in the Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Technical Director will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), particularly the Family Welfare Division (FWD) and the Department of Health Services (DoHS), to ensure that interventions are designed and executed effectively. The role involves collaboration with project staff and local partners to ensure that technical excellence is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. The Technical Director will also be responsible for ensuring that life-saving commodities and equipment are provided in alignment with local needs, contributing to monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities to enhance project outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Director will lead the overall implementation of nutrition interventions, providing technical oversight and support to a team of specialists focused on managing acute malnutrition and engaging the private sector. The role includes managing a project with ambitious timelines while ensuring the delivery of sustainable, high-quality interventions. Key responsibilities include developing and overseeing strategic partnerships with MOHP and subnational government authorities, liaising with FHI 360 experts to ensure technical excellence, and collaborating with local, regional, and headquarters staff to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery. The Technical Director will also lead the implementation and monitoring of annual work plans, contribute to program reports and documentation of successes, and serve as the primary contact for the United States Department of State regarding all nutrition program elements. Additionally, the role involves providing line management to team members, representing FHI 360 at external functions, and coordinating with other senior leaders to ensure strategic alignment across the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in public health, behavioral and social sciences, or a related field, along with five to seven years of experience managing public health programs focused on nutrition. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with over seven years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of national nutrition program components and implementation requirements, as well as experience working alongside the Government of Nepal to implement health programming. Experience in managing diverse teams within international non-governmental organizations and overseeing large donor-funded projects is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in public health, behavioral and social sciences, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in nutrition-focused public health programs is acceptable. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in public health principles and practices, particularly in relation to nutrition and health programming.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five to seven years of experience in managing public health programs with a focus on nutrition. This experience should include working with the Government of Nepal and managing diverse teams in an international non-governmental organization context. Experience overseeing all aspects of large donor-funded projects, including program and financial management, is crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate a proactive approach to managing multiple tasks and working in a virtual environment, with flexibility to collaborate across different time zones.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Nepali is mandatory, as the role requires strong documentation skills in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, but English and Nepali are essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
