Job Overview:
The Advisory Manager position is a senior role within the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIO) at IOM, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of the Internal Audit Division. The primary responsibility of the Senior Advisor (Internal Audit Advisory Services) is to lead advisory projects from start to finish. This includes conducting diagnostic assessments, defining improvement opportunities, and proposing recommendations for senior management's consideration. The role requires the implementation of best practices in project and change management to facilitate effective decision-making. The Senior Advisor is expected to engage with stakeholders at various levels within the organization, ensuring that advisory reports are clear, concise, and provide valuable insights. The position demands a collaborative approach, strong client orientation, and effective people management skills, as the advisor will work with multi-disciplinary teams in a diverse environment. The Senior Advisor will also develop methodologies and tools for the advisory practice, manage advisory services at IOM Headquarters, and ensure that advisory services are delivered on time and within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Advisory Manager include leading advisory projects end-to-end, developing methodologies and tools for the advisory practice, managing advisory services in line with industry standards, and ensuring high-quality advisory reports. The Senior Advisor will facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity-building projects, provide strategic advice to senior management, and manage a team to deliver advisory and special assignments. They will also be responsible for identifying potential targets for advisory reviews, ensuring timely delivery of advisory services, managing stakeholder engagement, and following up on advisory recommendations. Additional responsibilities include providing technical guidance to staff involved in advisory projects and supporting the professional development of team members through training and coaching.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with seven years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a University degree in the same fields with nine years of relevant experience is acceptable. The role requires significant experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity overseeing advisory teams, preferably in management consulting. Candidates should have experience interacting with executive-level management and Board-level stakeholders, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and managing tight deadlines across disciplines. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in preparing high-quality documents for senior audiences and have a strong background in strategy consulting or management consulting within international organizations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics from an accredited academic institution. Candidates with a University degree in these fields are also eligible if they have additional years of relevant professional experience. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in the principles of management, economics, and business practices, which are essential for the advisory role.

Experience:
The position requires at least seven years of professional experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or nine years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. This experience should include several years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing advisory teams, ideally within management consulting firms. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a multicultural environment and managing projects with strict timelines. Experience in preparing high-quality documents for senior audiences and working with various sectors, including the United Nations and international organizations, is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage. IOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish, and all staff members are required to be proficient in at least one of these languages.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is fixed-term for one year, with the possibility of extension. The role is classified at the P-4 grade level, indicating a professional vacancy type. Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile, and any offer made is subject to funding confirmation. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for a period of 24 months. Candidates must meet medical fitness requirements and any residency or visa requirements.
