Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Helios+ project, which aims to facilitate the integration of third-country nationals into the labor market in Western Greece. This position requires close collaboration with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to ensure that project activities are executed effectively and in alignment with IOM's values and standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring project components, ensuring timely implementation of activities, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders. The role also involves supporting senior management in budget management and resource optimization, as well as representing IOM at relevant events and coordination forums to promote project objectives and achievements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
Monitor and streamline the coordination of project components in the designated region, ensuring timely implementation of all project activities.
Supervise and support Unit Focal Points and Assistants, fostering effective communication and cooperation among team members.
Maintain strong contacts with the Donor and ensure project implementation aligns with their requirements and priorities.
Coordinate with local stakeholders, including authorities and other humanitarian actors, to facilitate smooth project execution.
Promote local synergies with other programs to ensure complementarity in service provision.
Represent IOM in coordination fora and events, presenting project achievements and promoting objectives.
Collaborate with relevant units in the Resource Management Department to ensure smooth project implementation.
Assist senior management in managing the allocated budget and developing resource management plans.
Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a combination of knowledge, education, training, and experience to effectively perform the essential functions of the position. This includes strong work ethics, commitment to humanitarian principles, and proficiency in standard software applications. A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to IOM's values, including inclusion, integrity, professionalism, courage, and empathy.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma with a minimum of five years of relevant working experience, or a University degree in fields such as political science, international relations, social work, law, sociology, social anthropology, management, business administration, or public administration, with at least three years of work experience. A Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields will be considered an advantage. Candidates must have graduated from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: A minimum of three years of previous work experience is required, preferably in a multi-cultural environment. Candidates should have experience in project management, coordination, and stakeholder engagement, demonstrating their ability to work effectively in diverse settings and manage complex tasks.
Languages: Fluency in English and Greek, both written and oral, is mandatory for this position. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be beneficial. Language skills will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary government authorizations.
