Job Overview: The Senior CBI Associate position is a critical role within the UNHCR framework, primarily supervised by the Cash-based Intervention Officer. The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance on monthly work plans and coordinating with various internal teams to ensure the smooth execution of monthly cash transfers. This role requires high-level data management skills to effectively manage cash lists and distribution modules. The incumbent will work independently with minimal oversight, directly supervising some support staff as necessary. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior CBI Associate include providing inputs to the operation's Multifunctional Team (MFT) to ensure smooth financial processing of cash assistance programs within the Area of Responsibility. The incumbent will manage and maintain databases used in cash-based interventions on behalf of the CBI Unit and the MFT. They will develop statistical and detailed reports based on standard reporting formats and ad-hoc requests, ensuring timely delivery of cash to beneficiaries by maintaining cash lists. The role also involves maintaining relationships with partners and financial service providers to facilitate information flow between databases, assisting in training internal staff and partners on cash procedures, and executing best practices in data protection standards. The Senior CBI Associate will support coordination with different implementing partners, operations, and focal points regarding beneficiary lists, undertake missions and field visits to monitor cash projects, represent UNHCR at cash-based intervention meetings, and develop improvements to databases and workflows. Additionally, they will identify and manage risks, ensuring decision-making is informed by risk assessments, and perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include data management experience, preferably in a cash-based intervention context, and excellent knowledge of computer software and database applications, particularly Microsoft SQL Server. Desirable qualifications include experience or training in accounting, good knowledge of UNHCR financial rules, procedures, and processes, and familiarity with UNHCR-specific programs such as MSRP and Focus. Prior exposure to UNHCR refugee operations and functions related to office administration and program activities is also beneficial. Completion of UNHCR Learning programs or specific training relevant to the functions of the position is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent for those with 2 years of relevant experience.
