Job Overview:
The Analyst position is integral to the EBRD’s Advice for Small Businesses Programme, which aims to provide advisory services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their growth and sustainability. The Analyst will be involved in various stages of project management, including initiation, structuring, execution, implementation, monitoring, and completion of advisory projects. This role requires collaboration with international teams and stakeholders to identify business needs, develop project scopes, and ensure compliance with the EBRD's strategic objectives. The Analyst will also engage in business development activities to create a robust pipeline of advisory projects, focusing on priority areas such as digitalization, green economy, and economic inclusion. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under the guidance of senior team members while contributing to the overall success of the SME Finance & Development team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst will be responsible for delivering various instruments and activities under the Advice for Small Businesses Programme. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and executing advisory projects in alignment with the Bank’s policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal controls.
  • Conducting thorough analyses of clients’ financial situations and growth prospects to provide impactful advisory support.
  • Generating a pipeline of high-quality clients and advisory activities in strategic priority areas.
  • Monitoring the performance of portfolio companies and identifying opportunities for follow-up support.
  • Collaborating with local consultants and stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of advisory services.
  • Preparing and submitting accurate financial reports and maintaining organized documentation for local payments.
  • Supporting marketing and visibility activities to promote the Advice for Small Businesses Programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, along with strong business and financial analytical skills. The ability to interpret financial accounts and conduct thorough financial analyses is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills, as well as effective communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities. Experience in writing advisory project proposals and reports is desirable. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, along with proficiency in the local language of operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required, and candidates should be quick learners of new systems.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, or Finance is required. Candidates with equivalent work experience may also be considered. Advanced degrees or certifications in finance or business management may be advantageous but are not mandatory.

Experience:
Relevant professional experience is required, preferably in commercial management consultancy, development institutions, or financial institutions such as banks. Candidates should have a good understanding of EBRD’s strategic SME priority areas, including green economy, economic inclusion, sustainable supply chains, and digitalization. Experience working with local business environments and consultancy markets is essential, as is familiarity with relevant stakeholders and SME business associations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal. Additionally, fluency in the local language of Senegal is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 2 years. The role is full-time and may require travel within the country and internationally.
