Job Overview: The DTM Data Collection Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the DTM Programme Officer and in close coordination with the DTM Senior Programme Associate. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production and dissemination of information related to displacement activities, data sharing, and support within Nigeria. This role involves supporting the DTM data collection and assessments, maintaining the DTM database, and ensuring that reliable data is extracted from existing databases. The assistant will also help prepare regular DTM reports, qualitative and quantitative reports, maps, and infographics. Additionally, the role includes providing support to enumerators during the data collection process, maintaining data confidentiality according to IOM's data protection guidelines, and assisting in the improvement of filing systems. The assistant may also be required to perform data entry, assist with workshops and training, and undertake any other related tasks as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the DTM data collection and assessments, ensuring accurate and timely data entry and maintenance of the DTM database.
Assist in the preparation of regular DTM reports, qualitative and quantitative analyses, maps, and infographics.
Provide guidance and support to enumerators regarding the DTM data collection process.
Ensure data confidentiality in accordance with IOM's data protection guidelines.
Collaborate with various departments and projects to strengthen data sharing and reporting.
Assist in improving filing systems and data management processes.
Perform data entry tasks as necessary to maintain up-to-date records.
Support the organization and facilitation of workshops and training sessions.
Undertake any other related tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Diploma Degree with four years of relevant experience in ICT, Computer Science, Statistics, Database Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields from an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, internet applications, Microsoft Outlook, Access, and Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with mobile data collection tools such as ODK and KOBO is essential, along with experience in using software programs like Excel, STATA, SPSS, and SAS for data analysis. Basic knowledge of GIS tools and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server-Spatial and ArcGIS) is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Diploma Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Statistics, Database Management, Business Administration, or a related field, along with four years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates may hold a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields from an accredited academic institution, accompanied by two years of relevant professional experience. It is important that the educational qualifications are from recognized institutions listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a related field such as ICT, Computer Science, Statistics, Database Management, Business Administration, or any preferred related field is required. Previous work experience with an International Organization or NGOs dealing with refugees is considered a strong advantage. Candidates should also have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet applications, as well as experience in mobile data collection and data analysis software.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of local languages spoken in the Northeast, Northwest, and North-Central regions of Nigeria is desirable. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process, which could include written and/or oral assessments.
