Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer for Emotional Support will provide assistance through a call center service aimed at offering emotional support and prevention strategies to the Bolivian community. This role requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per week, with shifts assigned by a direct supervisor. Volunteers will undergo comprehensive training on UNICEF's care protocols, case management, and call center operations. The service is designed to support individuals of all ages, with a focus on vulnerable populations such as women facing violence, migrants, and the LGBTQI+ community. Volunteers are expected to actively participate in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide effective support. Additionally, volunteers must complete mandatory self-guided courses available on the virtual learning platform, with optional specialized courses for further certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center, adhering to assigned shifts and schedules.
  • Participate in comprehensive training on care protocols, case reception, and call center management.
  • Engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, prioritizing vulnerable populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards as outlined by UNICEF.
  • Report any emotional distress or ethical concerns to the designated supervisor immediately.
  • Complete mandatory self-guided training courses and participate in synchronous training sessions.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure effective service delivery and support.
  • Maintain a distraction-free workspace to ensure quality interactions with callers.
  • Stay informed about UNICEF's guidelines and protocols to provide accurate support.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide empathetic and non-judgmental support.
  • Familiarity with emotional support practices and crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using call center technology.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in volunteer work.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training opportunities.

Educational Background:
A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Volunteers should have a strong understanding of emotional support principles and practices, as well as a commitment to the mission of UNICEF.

Experience:
Previous experience in providing emotional support, counseling, or working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable. Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with individuals in distress and have the ability to navigate sensitive conversations.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the service is provided to the Bolivian community. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly indigenous languages or English, is considered an asset but not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with a flexible commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Volunteers will receive ongoing supervision and support from UNICEF staff. The role is designed to be remote, allowing volunteers to work from home. Volunteers must have access to a computer with specific technical requirements, including a stable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
