Job Overview:
The position of UN Volunteer involves working under the direct supervision of the Head of the Field Office in Ciudad Guayana. The volunteer will be responsible for planning and designing strategic interventions aligned with UNICEF's Strategic Plan 2026-202
  • This includes developing proposals for WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects, ensuring quality control, and providing technical support to local actors. The role also entails monitoring and reporting on the implementation of these projects, ensuring that supplies are used correctly, and supervising WASH facilities in various community settings. The volunteer will engage in community processes to promote safe water, hygiene, and sanitation, and will develop local training agendas to strengthen technical and community capacities. Coordination with local authorities and stakeholders is essential to ensure the effective implementation of UNICEF's Country Program and Annual Work Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Strategic Design: Collaborate with the Field Office to design proposals aligned with the Strategic Plan, ensuring integrated implementation across program areas.
  • Quality Control: Develop intervention proposals and provide technical support to local actors in WASH project implementation, adhering to Sphere standards and methodologies.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Report on contextual situations, monitor project indicators, and ensure proper supply distribution.
  • Facility Supervision: Oversee the functioning of WASH facilities in communities, schools, and health centers, enhancing community management processes.
  • Technical Support: Identify bottlenecks in WASH activities and support community processes for safe water and sanitation promotion.
  • Training Development: Create local training agendas to enhance community and technical capacities.
  • Coordination: Facilitate necessary coordination with local authorities and stakeholders, ensuring UNICEF's participation in program development and decision-making processes.
  • Additional Duties: Execute any other tasks assigned by the supervisor, engage in volunteer activities, and contribute to the UNV program's visibility and outreach.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong planning and organizational skills, adaptability, creativity, and professionalism. They should demonstrate accountability and self-management in their work. The role requires a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, particularly in promoting children's rights and well-being.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, public health, international development, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in WASH or community development would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in community development, public health, or a related field. Experience working with NGOs or international organizations, particularly in WASH programs, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's operational frameworks and methodologies will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Venezuela. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with a monthly allowance of USD 1299.00, a pre-assignment grant of USD 400.00, and a final assignment grant of USD 108.30 for each month of service. Volunteers are provided with medical, dental, and life insurance, as well as coverage for eligible dependents. Annual leave is accrued at a rate of 2.5 days per month. The position is full-time and based in Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela.
