Job Overview: The Associate Programme Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Gender Parity, Diversity and Inclusion Team within the OCSS. This position involves planning and facilitating online workshops and seminars aimed at uniformed women peacekeepers, as well as developing promotional materials and communication strategies to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers. The officer will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the project's progress, collecting and analyzing data from various sources, and preparing written outputs such as reports and presentations for UN stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to outreach activities and a commitment to promoting gender parity within UN Peacekeeping operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Planning and facilitating online workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions for uniformed women peacekeepers, ensuring effective follow-up on these activities.
Undertaking outreach activities to promote the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers, including the development of promotional materials, newsletters, and an online resource hub.
Participating in and presenting on topics related to the Network and the Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy.
Contributing to the preparation of written outputs, such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports for UN stakeholders.
Providing administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences, including logistics and preparation of background documents.
Participating in field missions to provide support and collect data.
Supporting project management activities, including reporting and budget preparation.
Performing other duties related to the Network and the implementation of the Gender Parity Strategy as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of project and programme management principles, with a focus on gender parity and inclusion. They should demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and effective planning and organizing skills. The ability to analyze issues, develop data sources, and conduct independent research is essential. Candidates should also show a commitment to incorporating gender perspectives in their work and ensuring equal participation of women and men in all areas.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Candidates should have experience organizing large-scale online events, moderating online platforms for networks, and supporting uniformed personnel in UN Peacekeeping Operations. Experience working on gender parity issues and supporting monitoring and evaluation initiatives is also required.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is desirable, also at UN Level II proficiency.
