Job Overview: The Multimedia Production Designer will play a crucial role in enhancing the visual communication efforts of UNEP, particularly within the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO). This position involves the formatting and layout of various documents, including factsheets, presentations, and graphics, as well as video editing and the creation of updated digital assets. The designer will be responsible for producing a variety of multimedia deliverables that effectively communicate complex information related to methane emissions and climate action. The role requires a blend of creativity and technical skills to develop engaging visual content that aligns with UNEP's mission and visual guidelines. The consultant will work closely with UNEP teams to ensure that all visual materials are not only aesthetically pleasing but also informative and impactful, contributing to the overarching goals of the organization in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Multimedia Production Designer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: collaborating with UNEP teams to develop visual materials such as factsheets, reports, and presentations; formatting and laying out technical and scientific documents using tools like Microsoft Word, Adobe Suite, and Canva; designing new graphics and enhancing existing illustrations and infographics; integrating imagery and stock footage from personal collections; creating and assembling videos that adhere to UNEP's visual guidelines; incorporating subtitles, logos, and other necessary elements into visual materials; editing and finalizing visual content based on feedback and approval; producing and updating factsheets that cover key IMEO workstreams and outputs; formatting and adapting slide decks, including transitioning older presentations into new templates; designing infographics for core workstreams; and updating visual resources for IMEO's digital channels, including the website and social media.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in communications, graphic design, or a related field. Additionally, significant experience of at least 5 years in graphic design is required, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates proficiency in designing templates, factsheets, slide decks, and other visual materials. Candidates should also have at least 3 years of experience in creating data visualizations and infographics to effectively communicate complex information, as well as experience in video content production, with motion design being an added benefit. Furthermore, candidates should have project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate effectively with stakeholders.
Educational Background: A first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in communications, graphic design, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and design, which are critical for the role of Multimedia Production Designer.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of significant experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio that showcases proficiency in creating various visual materials.
