Job Overview:
The Creative Arts Campaign Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive online creative arts campaign aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues. This position involves utilizing various artistic mediums to engage and educate the target audience, particularly focusing on the benefits of art therapy and self-care. The coordinator will be responsible for consolidating and generating publicity for artwork submitted by participants in the Open Call, which is part of the 34 Gallery Initiative. The campaign will also include educational components that inform the public about mental health, child development, and the importance of art in these contexts. The role requires a creative individual who can effectively communicate the goals of the campaign and inspire participation from both artists and the community. The coordinator will also be tasked with promoting the organization's initiatives through social media platforms, thereby amplifying the reach and impact of Simuka Africa's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive online creative arts campaign that raises awareness of mental health issues.
  • Create engaging content that utilizes various artistic mediums, including artwork, graphics, and videos.
  • Consolidate and generate publicity for artwork submitted by participants in the Open Call.
  • Educate the public on self-care, art therapy, and the benefits of art for child development.
  • Encourage volunteers to submit their own artwork based on the Art Therapy Open Call themes.
  • Collaborate with other art institutions to enhance the campaign's reach and effectiveness.
  • Manage social media platforms to promote the campaign and engage with the audience.
  • Create short videos for the Simuka Africa Youth Association's YouTube channel and Instagram Reels.
  • Foster a supportive environment for female artists and promote their work through the campaign. 1
  • Monitor and evaluate the campaign's effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to improve outreach and engagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong background in creative arts, including experience in visual arts, graphic design, or multimedia production.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas in an accessible manner.
  • Experience in campaign development and execution, particularly in the context of social issues such as mental health and gender equality.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms for promotional purposes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including artists, volunteers, and community members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for mental health advocacy and a commitment to promoting gender equality.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Communications, Social Work, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with equivalent experience in creative arts or campaign management may also be considered. Additional training or certifications in mental health advocacy or art therapy would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in creative arts, campaign management, or a related field. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in community outreach programs is highly desirable. Familiarity with mental health issues and gender equality advocacy will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Shona or Ndebele is a plus, as it will enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial for outreach purposes.

Additional Notes:
This position is a volunteer role with flexible hours, allowing for part-time commitment. The campaign will run throughout 2025, with potential for extension based on funding and project success. The organization is open to recruiting internationally, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
