Job Overview: The Education Officer position at UNICEF involves providing comprehensive technical, analytical, and coordination support to various educational bodies in Bangladesh, including DPE, NAPE, NAEM, DSHE Training Wing, BNU, and BOU. The role focuses on modernizing and transforming the education system through skills integration, promoting wellbeing for students and teachers, and enhancing teacher development and innovation. The Education Officer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a modernized skill-based pre- and in-service teacher education program, ensuring alignment with national reforms and international best practices. Duties and Responsibilities: The key functions of the Education Officer include:

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant fields. A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and managing secondary education system strengthening is required. Candidates should have a technical understanding of teacher professional development, pre-service and in-service training, skills integration, and the wellbeing of teachers and students. Experience working with government education authorities and a strong understanding of competency-based education frameworks are essential. Proven experience in partnership management and program monitoring is also required.
Educational Background: A university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant technical fields is mandatory for this position. Higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED) are preferred.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in the education sector, specifically in planning and managing secondary education system strengthening. Candidates should have experience working with educational authorities and a strong understanding of teacher professional development and skills integration.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.
