Job Overview:
The Enumerator position is integral to IOM's efforts in conducting data collection activities in the field, particularly in relation to the 'Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration' project. The Enumerator will work closely with stakeholders, including the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM), to gather quantitative and qualitative data through interviews with individuals from both host and migrant communities. This role requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards while conducting interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner. The Enumerator will report directly to IOM’s Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator, providing daily updates on progress, challenges, and observations. This position is a volunteer assignment, emphasizing the importance of community support and humanitarian aid.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Enumerator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from both host and migrant communities; maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards throughout the data collection process; reporting daily progress to the Team Leader and informing them of any issues or incomplete interviews; conducting interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner; utilizing established mobile data collection tools to ensure accurate data gathering; submitting daily updates to the Team Leader regarding progress, challenges, and observations; and performing any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills to ensure the successful completion of data collection activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Enumerator position should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations. They should demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in data collection. Additionally, candidates should have a basic understanding of migration issues and the challenges faced by migrants. Familiarity with mobile data collection tools is preferred, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role, as is the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the field.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma is required for the Enumerator position. However, candidates with higher education in social sciences, international relations, or related fields will be preferred. Relevant training or certifications in data collection methods or research methodologies will be considered an asset. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of migration and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
While prior experience in data collection or research is not mandatory, candidates with previous volunteer experience or work in migration-related fields will be highly regarded. The role requires individuals who are comfortable working in diverse environments and can effectively communicate with individuals from various backgrounds. Experience in conducting interviews or surveys will be beneficial, as will familiarity with the local context and communities in Kahramanmaras.

Languages:
Fluency in Turkish is mandatory for this position, as the Enumerator will be conducting interviews with local populations. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with IOM staff. Knowledge of additional languages spoken within migrant communities in the region will be considered an advantage, enhancing the Enumerator's ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer assignment, not employment, and candidates should be aware that the allowances provided are not to be understood as a salary or compensation for work. The monthly living allowance is USD 645, paid in Turkish Lira, and includes private insurance coverage for health, dental, life, and dismemberment. An entry allowance of USD 10 is also provided.
