Job Overview:
The position of National Technical Assistance for Creating a Climate Change Network is crucial for supporting the planning and implementation of activities financed by the Green Climate Fund in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The role involves providing expert guidance and technical support to develop a comprehensive network that addresses climate change issues effectively. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to ensure that climate change initiatives are aligned with national policies and international commitments. This position requires a deep understanding of climate change dynamics, policy frameworks, and the ability to engage with diverse groups to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies for establishing a climate change network that facilitates communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance in the planning and execution of climate change projects funded by the Green Climate Fund.
  • Conduct assessments to identify gaps and opportunities in current climate change initiatives and propose actionable recommendations.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on the progress of climate change initiatives and present findings to relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate with local and international partners to share best practices and lessons learned in climate change management.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the climate change network and make necessary adjustments to improve its impact.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in climate change policy development and implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the Green Climate Fund and its operational procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in project management and coordination.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or climate change adaptation and mitigation will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, environmental management, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing projects and engaging with stakeholders at various levels is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Venezuela. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it facilitates engagement with international partners and access to global resources.

The contract duration for this position is 4 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
