Job Overview: The Individual Consultant: State Consultant position is focused on supporting system strengthening for Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions related to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability (CCES). The consultant will be expected to work closely with various stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of SBC strategies in these critical areas. This role involves assessing current systems, identifying gaps, and proposing actionable recommendations to improve the implementation of SBC interventions. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of these interventions, ensuring that they align with UNICEF's goals and objectives. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to engage with diverse groups, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to foster collaboration and drive positive change.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting a comprehensive assessment of existing SBC interventions related to WASH and CCES in the state.
Collaborating with local stakeholders to identify barriers to effective implementation and propose solutions.
Developing and implementing training programs for local partners to enhance their capacity in SBC strategies.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of SBC interventions, providing regular reports and feedback to UNICEF and stakeholders.
Facilitating workshops and meetings to promote knowledge sharing and best practices among stakeholders.
Preparing detailed reports on findings, recommendations, and progress made in strengthening SBC systems.
Engaging with community members to gather insights and feedback on SBC initiatives.
Ensuring that all activities are aligned with UNICEF's mission and strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in public health, social sciences, or a related field. A proven track record in implementing SBC strategies, particularly in WASH and environmental sustainability, is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Familiarity with UNICEF's policies and procedures, as well as experience in project management, will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics affecting SBC interventions in the region.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in SBC methodologies or project management will be advantageous. Candidates with relevant academic qualifications and practical experience in the field will be prioritized.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health, social behavior change, or related fields. Experience working with UNICEF or similar international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including government officials, community leaders, and NGOs.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Hindi or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and communities. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this consultancy position is 24 months. The role is based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and may require travel within the state for stakeholder engagement and monitoring activities. This is a full-time consultancy position, and candidates should be prepared to commit to the duration of the contract.
