Job Overview: The consultancy position is focused on increasing awareness and promoting the adoption of sustainable alternatives to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) in Chile, contributing to the country's compliance with the Kigali Amendment under the Montreal Protocol. The consultant will work closely with the Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment of Chile, which is implementing activities to promote behavioral change among key decision-makers in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector. The role involves designing and implementing a strategic marketing approach to raise awareness about HFCs, their climate impacts, and sustainable alternatives. The consultant will be responsible for conducting audience studies, developing key messages, and supporting the design of a multi-channel awareness campaign. This position requires a strong understanding of communication strategies, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to position the Ozone Unit as a national reference in environmental matters.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment of Chile. Key responsibilities include: conducting an audience study and categorization of stakeholders related to HFCs; developing tailored key messages and a unifying communication concept; supporting the design and implementation of a multi-channel awareness campaign; proposing and implementing a brand positioning strategy for the Ozone Unit; designing tools and indicators to monitor and evaluate communication actions; preparing periodic progress reports every two months; delivering a final evaluation report summarizing activities and results; and participating in regular coordination meetings with the Ozone Unit to ensure timely submission of deliverables.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with two qualifying years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the master's degree. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, journalism, or marketing is required, with proven expertise in behavior-focused and institutional communication campaigns. Experience in the diffusion of Montreal Protocol initiatives is also necessary. Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing awareness strategies, brand positioning, and multi-channel campaigns. At least one verifiable course in marketing and brand positioning is required. Familiarity with environmental issues, ozone protection, the refrigeration and air conditioning sector, and climate change is desirable, along with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and engage with public and private stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related subject. In cases where candidates hold a bachelor's degree, they must also have two qualifying years of relevant experience to be considered for the role.
