Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer for Emotional Support will provide assistance through a call center service aimed at offering emotional support and prevention strategies to the Bolivian community. Volunteers will work in shifts of 8-10 hours per week, during hours assigned by their direct supervisor. This role is crucial in addressing the emotional well-being of individuals across all age groups, particularly those in vulnerable situations such as women facing violence, migrants, and the LGBTQI+ community. Volunteers will undergo comprehensive training on UNICEF's care protocols, case management, and call center operations, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide effective support. Participation in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia is highly encouraged, and completion of basic self-guided courses is mandatory. The role emphasizes ethical considerations and requires volunteers to maintain confidentiality and report any emotional distress or ethical concerns immediately to their supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center service to the Bolivian community.
  • Work in assigned shifts of 8-10 hours per week, coordinating with the supervisor for scheduling.
  • Participate in comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations.
  • Engage actively in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia.
  • Complete mandatory self-guided courses available on the virtual learning platform.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Report any emotional distress or ethical concerns to the designated supervisor promptly.
  • Support individuals of all ages, prioritizing vulnerable populations.
  • Ensure a distraction-free workspace to provide effective support.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide empathetic support.
  • Familiarity with emotional support practices and crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with call center operations are advantageous.

Educational Background:
A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant training or certifications in emotional support or crisis intervention will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Previous experience in providing emotional support, counseling, or working in a call center environment is desirable. Volunteers should be comfortable handling sensitive situations and have a strong understanding of the ethical implications of their role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the service is provided to the Bolivian community. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly indigenous languages or English, is considered a plus but not required.

This is a volunteer position with a flexible commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Volunteers will receive ongoing supervision and support from program supervisors.
