The CCAC operates globally, with a focus on supporting air quality managers, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, through the development of the Air Quality Management Exchange Platform (AQMx).
Job Overview: The CCAC AQMx Air Quality Forecasting Expert will be responsible for developing comprehensive guidance packages for air quality managers, specifically focusing on Stages 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the Air Quality Forecasting Guidance. This role involves writing approximately 5,000 words for each stage and identifying at least 30 supporting resources to enhance the guidance. The expert will build on existing air quality management frameworks, ensuring that the guidance is actionable and accessible for air quality managers as they progress through the stages. The position requires collaboration with the AQMx Technical Advisory Group and other stakeholders to ensure that the guidance reflects the latest research and meets the needs of air quality managers worldwide. The final output will include detailed guidance documents and a PowerPoint presentation for the launch of the guidance on International Clean Air Day 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop Stages 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the Air Quality Forecasting Guidance, ensuring clarity and accessibility in language.
Identify and compile a minimum of 30 supporting resources for each stage, including tools, models, databases, reports, and articles.
Conduct consultations with the AQMx Technical Advisory Group and relevant partners to gather insights and ensure the guidance is informed by the latest research.
Ensure cross-linkages and consistency with other areas of Air Quality Management Guidance.
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation summarizing key messages for the launch of the guidance.
Submit all deliverables electronically, including the guidance documents and presentation materials.
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine the guidance based on feedback and emerging needs in air quality management.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's-level university degree in a relevant field such as environmental management, technology, science, economics, public policy, or law.
A minimum of 4 years of professional or scientific experience related to Air Quality Forecasting, as evidenced in the CV.
Proven experience in preparing reports that demonstrate expertise in Air Quality Forecasting, including at least one authored or co-authored report from the last 3 years.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations effectively.
Expertise in Air Quality Forecasting and familiarity with the challenges faced in developing countries.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's-level university degree in a field directly relevant to the guidance being developed. This may include disciplines such as environmental management, technology, science, economics, public policy, public administration, or law. The educational background should provide a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of air quality management and forecasting.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or scientific experience specifically related to Air Quality Forecasting. This experience should be well-documented in the candidate's CV, showcasing a track record of relevant work in the field. Additionally, candidates should have demonstrated experience in preparing reports that reflect their expertise in Air Quality Forecasting, including references to at least one significant report authored or co-authored in the last three years. Experience working in developing countries and conducting research in various country contexts is also essential, as it will inform the guidance's applicability and relevance.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory for this position. Candidates with additional knowledge of other UN official languages will be considered an asset, enhancing their ability to communicate and collaborate in a diverse international environment.
