Job Overview:
The Refugee Registration and Eligibility Services Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the verification and reporting of the status of Palestine refugees. This position involves maintaining accurate records of changes in registration status for refugees residing within or outside UNRWA's operational areas, ensuring compliance with agency regulations. The officer will coordinate with the central identity verification team to manage Digital Registration and Identity Verification (DIV) requests, providing guidance and support to field teams in data collection and entry. The role also includes compiling and analyzing data from various RSS entities to produce statistical bulletins and analytical reports, which will aid in evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, the officer will provide administrative support for the division's daily operations, including document preparation, correspondence handling, record maintenance, meeting scheduling, and event arrangements. This position requires a proactive approach to managing tasks and a commitment to upholding UNRWA's core values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Support the verification and reporting of Palestine refugees' status, ensuring accurate records of registration changes in compliance with agency regulations.
  • Coordinate with the central identity verification team to manage DIV requests, following up with stakeholders and addressing special concerns with the supervisor.
  • Prepare standardized data collection forms and templates to facilitate quality data entry across RSSP Field teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Collect, collate, and compile data from various RSS entities, producing regular statistical bulletins and analytical reports for distribution.
  • Conduct routine research and data validation for RSS information, reviewing and analyzing statistical reports to create clear presentations and dashboards for decision-making.
  • Provide administrative support for the division's daily operations, including document preparation, correspondence handling, record maintenance, meeting scheduling, and event arrangements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a successful completion of full secondary education and a two-year diploma in business administration, office management, IT, or a related discipline recognized by the Agency. Knowledge and ability to operate database and IT systems is desirable. A university degree in administration, social science, IT, or a related discipline is also desirable. Additionally, candidates should have knowledge of the refugee community and UNRWA's relief and social services activities.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include successful completion of full secondary education and a two-year diploma in a relevant field such as business administration, office management, or IT. Experience:
Candidates must have at least six years of relevant work experience in registration, relief, social services, or data analysis activities within UN, NGOs, governmental organizations, or large commercial entities focused on human development or social welfare. This experience is essential to ensure that the incumbent can effectively manage the responsibilities associated with the role and contribute to the agency's mission.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required, with a minimum level of proficiency at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is crucial for collaboration and reporting within the UNRWA framework.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need. The monthly basic salary for this role is JD 710.10, with additional benefits including a monthly Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave as specified. This vacancy is open to internal candidates only, and applicants must reside in Amman and have authorization to work in the duty station. The agency will not facilitate work permit issuance, and without a valid permit, the appointment may be rescinded. The incumbent may be required to travel within the agency's operational areas and work outside normal duty hours on an on-call basis. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates who support the agency's commitment to gender parity.
