Job Overview: The IT Support Assistant position is designed for a recent graduate with a degree in Information Technology or a related field. The role focuses on providing comprehensive help desk support to all users regarding IT issues, ensuring adherence to ICT guidelines and standards. The assistant will maintain regular communication with the ICT Coordinator in Mogadishu to optimize network performance and provide hardware and software support for various program equipment, including printers, computers, and laptops. The IT Support Assistant will troubleshoot mailing system problems, set up internet connectivity for staff and visitors, and assist in capacity building for staff on current ICT systems. Additionally, the role includes developing visibility materials and communications products in collaboration with the Communications Manager, as well as other tasks as directed by the line manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide help desk support to all users on IT issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution of problems.
Ensure all staff adhere to ICT-related guidelines, procedures, and standards to maintain a secure and efficient IT environment.
Maintain regular contact with the ICT Coordinator in Mogadishu for feedback and support on network operations.
Provide hardware and software support for all program equipment, including printers, computers, and laptops.
Schedule regular computer-related services, maintenance, and license renewals to ensure all systems are up-to-date.
Update the data disaster recovery plan and implement it when necessary to safeguard organizational data.
Define, deploy, and maintain system security for shared services and equipment to protect against unauthorized access.
Troubleshoot NRC mailing system problems and ensure smooth operation of office mail and the MDL.
Set up internet connectivity for all staff and visitors, ensuring reliable access to online resources. 1
Build staff capacity on current and new ICT systems to enhance overall organizational efficiency. 1
Develop a monthly action plan detailing outputs and support required for ongoing projects. 1
Upload photos, videos, and success stories to the content archiving system to promote organizational achievements. 1
Collaborate with the Communications Manager to develop visibility materials and other communications products. 1
Perform any other tasks as required or directed by the line manager.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a recent degree in Information Technology or a related field, with a preference for those with higher academic achievements. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in providing user support for typical office ICT, particularly in LAN/WAN/VSAT/Wireless technologies, as well as familiarity with Cisco switches and routers. A strong understanding of modern technology trends and the ability to align them with internal organizational needs is essential. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build trust and navigate various levels of the organization effectively.
Educational Background: A degree in Information Technology or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with higher academic achievements will be given preference, indicating a strong foundation in IT principles and practices that are essential for the role.
Experience: This position is suitable for recent graduates, indicating that no extensive prior experience is required. However, candidates should demonstrate some familiarity with IT support roles or internships that provide relevant experience in user support and ICT systems.

Additional Notes: The contract period for this position is 6 months, and the salary and benefits will be according to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions. The duty station is Kismayo, and there may be travel requirements associated with the role.
