Job Overview:
The Representative position at UNFPA is a leadership role that involves overseeing complex business units and country office teams in the design and implementation of population and development programs, particularly in the context of sexual and reproductive health. The Representative will work within the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, collaborating with various stakeholders including governments, UN agencies, civil society, and the private sector to achieve the goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda. This role requires a strategic approach to program development and management, ensuring that the organization's mandate is effectively integrated into national development agendas. The Representative will be accountable for the successful implementation of country programs, advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights, and ensuring that the needs of the most vulnerable populations are met. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Representative include:

• Providing strategic direction and management for UNFPA's country programs, ensuring alignment with global, regional, and national policies.
• Building and maintaining institutional relationships with government counterparts, civil society, and other stakeholders to galvanize support for UNFPA's mandate.
• Promoting UNFPA's role in national development agendas and establishing priorities for country offices.
• Leading the development of strategic plans for humanitarian and preparedness actions.
• Managing international and national staff, fostering a culture of empowerment and professional growth.
• Driving resource mobilization efforts and managing donor relations to secure funding for country programs.

• Providing leadership in policy dialogue and program execution, including technical assistance for capacity development.
• Representing UNFPA in UN Country Teams and advocating for the integration of population and development issues in humanitarian and development agendas. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in disciplines such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of the United Nations and UNFPA, showcasing integrity, cultural sensitivity, and a dedication to gender equality and human rights. The ability to lead teams and achieve high-quality results is essential, along with experience in advocacy, policy dialogue, and effective communication with partners.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree is required, with a focus on relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, or Management. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of population and development issues, as well as the frameworks governing sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with at least 10 years specifically in the fields of population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian work at the international level. Field experience is essential, particularly in developing, humanitarian, or crisis contexts. Proven leadership abilities and experience in advocacy and policy dialogue are critical for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any other UN language is considered desirable, as it enhances communication and collaboration within the diverse international environment of UNFPA.
