This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, particularly in the Africa region, to enhance environmental sustainability in the mining sector. • Drafting proposals aimed at mobilizing funding at both country and regional levels concerning the mining value chain.
  • Preparing background documents, internal and external briefs, and meeting summaries as required.
  • Engaging with Communities of Practice to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

A first degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of demonstrated experience in the mining sector, environmental protection, or related areas. Previous project management experience is desirable, and experience with international organizations is considered an advantage. Key competencies include proven knowledge and experience in responsible mining, environmental sustainability, and circular economy principles, as well as strong expertise in policy development and stakeholder engagement, particularly in the Africa region.

A first degree may be accepted if accompanied by sufficient qualifying experience, indicating that practical experience can complement formal education in this role.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of demonstrated experience in the mining sector, environmental protection, or related areas. Candidates with previous project management experience will have an advantage, as will those who have worked with international organizations. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of environmental governance and the mining industry, as well as for effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the United Nations. Additionally, a working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an advantage, as it can facilitate engagement with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance communication in multilingual contexts.
