Job Overview: The consultant will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of fundraising strategies aimed at acquiring, retaining, and growing individual donors. This role requires a deep understanding of diverse audiences and the ability to tailor messaging and engagement strategies to resonate effectively across different markets. The consultant will drive innovation in fundraising approaches, utilizing creative strategies and tools to attract and retain donors. The position also involves managing paid media campaigns across various channels to achieve donor acquisition targets, developing performance marketing strategies, and overseeing the creation of engaging content. Additionally, the consultant will research and launch new digital channels and products, manage partnerships with digital vendors, and build the capacity of the team to support effective campaign delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Donor Development: Lead the design and implementation of strategies to acquire, retain, and grow individual donors, maximizing their lifetime value and return on investment. Tailor approaches to diverse audiences across different markets. Drive innovation in fundraising approaches and pilot creative strategies to attract and retain donors. Segment prospective donor audiences to optimize acquisition funnels and improve conversion rates. Collaborate with the Donor Experience team to ensure a seamless journey for donors across all digital touchpoints.
Paid Media & Performance Marketing: Plan, execute, and manage paid media campaigns across online and offline channels, including website, display and Google search advertising, social media, email marketing, Direct Response TV, online video, and OOH. Develop performance marketing strategies with clear KPIs, monitor ROAS, CPA, conversion rates, and optimize campaigns for efficiency and growth. Manage ad agency and media partners for effective planning and performance optimization.
Digital Innovation & Channel Development: Research, test, and launch new digital channels and products that align with UNRWA’s fundraising strategy. Stay updated with the latest digital trends and best practices.
Partners and Vendors Management: Build and manage partnerships with digital partners, including advertising and creative agencies, and key stakeholders. Oversee influencer marketing campaigns to meet fundraising objectives.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Build the team's capacity and take on supervisory responsibilities for new staff supporting acquisition campaigns.
Data, Reporting & Team Support: Manage the individual donor database in coordination with the CRM team, monitor Individual Giving performance, and provide insights into key donor segments. Track, analyze, and report on cross-platform campaign performance to optimize and improve ROI. Undertake other duties and special projects to support the Private Partnerships team.
Required Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in marketing, business administration, communications, social sciences, international relations, or a related discipline. At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national. Experience in managing digital marketing campaigns across paid media channels such as Google, Meta, YouTube, and TikTok. Proven experience in managing digital marketing and creative agencies, along with other vendors involved in digital marketing campaigns. Strong knowledge of marketing funnels and experience in tracking and analyzing performance data in Google Analytics. Experience in content creation for fundraising across online and offline channels.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree, preferably a Master’s degree or equivalent, in fields such as marketing, business administration, communications, social sciences, international relations, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively design and implement fundraising strategies.
Experience: Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience, which includes a minimum of two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of international fundraising and donor engagement, as well as the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts and market dynamics.
Languages: An excellent command of spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred, as it will enhance communication with local stakeholders and donors, thereby improving engagement and outreach efforts.
Additional Notes: The expected start date for this consultancy is as soon as possible. The consultancy is equivalent to a P3 level position, with a daily rate of $31
If the consultancy is conducted remotely, the consultant is expected to travel to UNRWA Headquarters in Amman for one week every three months. It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, including application, interview, or training.
