The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is a UN organization dedicated to supporting human development globally through the promotion of volunteerism and mobilization of volunteers. The UNV Regional Offices provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units, ensuring the effective placement of UN Volunteers across various UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes that focus on peace, development, and humanitarian needs. The Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) is located in Amman, Jordan, and plays a crucial role in delivering advisory services on volunteer infrastructure. In December 2023, the United Nations General Assembly recognized 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026), inviting UNV to facilitate this initiative.

Job Overview:
The selected Online Volunteers will be instrumental in supporting the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026) by creating digital and outreach materials aimed at raising awareness and enhancing visibility of the initiative within the Arab States Region. This role is pivotal in drawing public attention to the year-long celebration, promoting volunteer stories, and encouraging meaningful actions from individuals and organizations. The Online Volunteers will contribute to showcasing the impact of volunteerism and strengthening online engagement, thereby advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17, which emphasizes partnerships for the goals. The position requires creativity and a strong understanding of social media dynamics to effectively communicate the mission of IVY 2026 and engage diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with creating a variety of digital content under the guidance of the IVY 2026 Regional Coordinator for the Arab States. Each volunteer is expected to produce 10 social media cards, 4 templates, and 2 videos tailored for different audiences. Responsibilities include developing social media content and visually engaging materials that align with UNV’s communication strategy and the mission of IVY 202
  • Volunteers will draft captions, short posts, key messages, and storytelling excerpts to accompany the visual materials. They will utilize the Trello board and its pre-drafted key messages as a foundation for content creation. Additionally, volunteers will be responsible for translating the IVY 2026 Trello Board into French and sharing the finalized content across their personal social media platforms. Selected Online Volunteers will receive all necessary information and materials to effectively perform their tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong skills in digital content creation, particularly for social media platforms. A good understanding of visual communication and storytelling is essential. Volunteers should be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating creativity and initiative in their work. Familiarity with the UN’s mission and the principles of volunteerism is highly desirable. Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for content creation and management is also required.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field would be advantageous.
