Job Overview: The Project Analyst position is crucial for supporting the implementation of a project aimed at enhancing the electoral process in Lesotho. Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Analyst will coordinate effective project planning and implementation, which includes supporting the development and execution of Annual Work Plans (AWPs) and detailed implementation schedules. The Analyst will assist in coordinating activities with the IEC, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and civil society partners, while monitoring the progress of project components such as voter education and ID issuance. The role also involves ensuring that implementation activities align with UNDP policy and integrate a gender equality perspective. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor and report on project activities, review the results framework, conduct research and analysis on electoral processes, and draft reports for corporate, donor, and government stakeholders. Establishing partnerships and maintaining communication channels with various stakeholders is also a key responsibility, as is facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building through training and workshops. The Analyst will document best practices and lessons learned, promote advocacy on development trends, and contribute to knowledge networks related to the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Governance, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the aforementioned areas, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires strong analytical and writing skills, proficiency in office software packages, and experience working with electoral management bodies or international organizations. Knowledge of electoral systems in developing countries and experience in project coordination and implementation are also essential. Good networking abilities and partnership development skills are highly desirable, along with the ability to produce high-quality reports and publications.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Governance, Political Science, or International Relations. Candidates with a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in these areas may also qualify if they have at least two years of relevant professional experience. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of electoral processes and governance issues, which are central to the role of Project Analyst.
Experience: The level of experience required for this position varies based on educational qualifications. Applicants with a master’s degree (or equivalent) are not required to have prior professional work experience.
