The intern will play a crucial role in assisting with the development and dissemination of communication materials, managing digital content, and coordinating events that promote sustainable finance. The intern will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including financial institutions, to raise awareness about sustainable finance initiatives and contribute to the overall mission of UNEP FI. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of environmental communication and event management while contributing to global sustainability efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the UNEP FI's objectives. These include:
Assisting with the writing, editing, and design of communication content, such as newsletters, social media posts, event announcements, and web content.
Managing the UNEP FI website, including day-to-day updates and content development.
Supporting social media outreach efforts and creating proposals for larger social media campaigns, utilizing skills in video editing and design tools like Canva.
Monitoring web and social media analytics, presenting findings, and formulating actionable insights.
Coordinating logistics for events, particularly the UNEP FI Global Roundtable scheduled for June 2026 in London.
Assisting with communications for virtual events and webinars aimed at promoting sustainable finance to a global audience.
Tracking media coverage of UNEP FI and its initiatives to assess public engagement and awareness.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Candidates should have a background in communications, journalism, environmental studies, development studies, economics, business administration, or finance, with some experience in communications being advantageous. Proof of enrollment or graduation date will be required if selected for the position.
Educational Background: Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, environmental studies, development studies, economics, business administration, or finance. The internship is open to final year undergraduate or master's degree students, as well as recent graduates. Proof of enrollment or a copy of the degree certificate will be necessary for the application process.
Experience: No prior professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should have relevant academic training or coursework that aligns with the internship's focus on communications and sustainable finance. Experience in related fields, such as event coordination or digital content creation, will be considered a plus.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, another working language of the UN, is desirable. Proficiency in additional UN languages would also be beneficial and could enhance a candidate's application.
