Job Overview:
The position of Support Professional for the HC Peru Program involves a critical role in supporting the Ministry of Environment of Peru in updating the HC-Peru program, which is a digital platform aimed at monitoring and managing greenhouse gas emissions. The consultant will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing information from users of the HC-Peru tool, which is essential for generating inputs required for the update of the Operational Guide, Technical User Manual, and other related documents. This role is pivotal in promoting the use of the Carbon Footprint quantification platform in Peru and supporting the identification of mitigation actions that align with the country's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. The consultant will work under the supervision of UNEP’s NDC Act & Invest Global Coordinator and will engage in a hybrid work model, allowing for remote work while also participating in necessary in-person activities at the Ministry of Environment in Peru. The consultant's work will directly contribute to enhancing the user experience of the HC-Peru tool and ensuring the sustainability of the service.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting a satisfaction survey for HC-Peru, which involves reviewing and modifying the survey proposal, administering the survey, processing the results, analyzing the data, and proposing long-term improvements based on the findings.
  • Preparing a systematized document of questions and answers about HC-Peru using the survey results.
  • Supporting the update of the HC-Peru Operational Guide, GHG emissions management system, Technical Manual, and other related documents to promote the use of the Carbon Footprint quantification platform.
  • Assisting in the preparation of a user support guide, which includes interviewing members of the HC-Peru management team and professionals from the MINAM Technology Office, and documenting lessons learned about HC-Peru.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of outputs as outlined in the Terms of Reference and maintaining high-quality design work, materials, and reports, with approval from the reporting officer, Jérôme Malavelle, Project Management Officer at UNEP.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. Additionally, postgraduate studies in Climate Change, Environmental Engineering, Corporate Sustainability, or related fields are desirable. The candidate must have at least two years of proven experience in climate change management, GHG emissions quantification at an organizational level, and/or the development of climate-related tools. Practical knowledge of international methodologies for emissions quantification and reporting, such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 / ISO 14067, or IPCC Guidelines, is essential. Experience in developing or reviewing technical manuals, user guides, or monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems is also desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Postgraduate studies in areas related to climate change or sustainability are considered an asset and will enhance the candidate's profile for this position.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in climate change management, specifically in GHG emissions quantification at an organizational level. Experience in developing climate-related tools or systems is also required. Familiarity with international methodologies for emissions quantification and reporting is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the Ministry of Environment and among stakeholders in Peru. Proficiency in English is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is part-time and expected to last for six months. The consultant will work in a hybrid model, allowing for remote work while also participating in in-person activities as required.
