Job Overview:
The Investment Analyst position within the Infrastructure department of IFC is designed for individuals who are passionate about contributing to the development of infrastructure in Central America. The role involves supporting the sourcing and assessment of new investment opportunities, particularly in sectors such as power generation, transport, telecommunications, and water services. The analyst will be responsible for creating and analyzing financial models, participating in transaction structuring, and conducting thorough market research to identify viable projects. The position requires a proactive approach to business development, including the preparation of pitchbooks and internal reports that synthesize complex information for decision-making. The analyst will also monitor existing investments, ensuring compliance with IFC's financial and environmental standards, and will report on potential risks and issues within the portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Investment Analyst include:
  • Supporting the sourcing and assessment of new investment opportunities by identifying bankable projects and anticipating market trends.
  • Creating and analyzing financial models to evaluate project viability, with a focus on project finance modeling.
  • Participating in the structuring of new transactions and providing analytical support during investment negotiations.
  • Reviewing and analyzing historical and projected financial statements of potential clients.
  • Conducting industry and market research, including integrity checks and pricing benchmarks, to assist in business development efforts.
  • Preparing documentation for internal IFC processes and ensuring high-quality reporting on investment performance.
  • Actively monitoring investments in portfolio companies and ensuring compliance with IFC's requirements.
  • Preparing reports that identify potential risks and issues, along with proposed mitigants.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably with a concentration in Finance, Business, or Economics. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a financial institution, investment bank, private equity fund, or consulting firm is required, with a proven track record in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis. Experience in infrastructure-related projects and project finance is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as sound business judgment. Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling is essential, along with the ability to analyze financial information effectively. The ability to work in multicultural teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously is crucial, as is a willingness to travel as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English are mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in finance or investment analysis will be viewed favorably. A strong foundation in financial principles and practices is essential for success in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as finance, investment banking, or consulting.
