Job Overview: As an Audit Specialist at ADB, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the governance, risk management, and control processes within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to lead independent and objective audits and reviews of internal controls and business processes. You will serve as the auditor-in-charge for assurance and advisory engagements, focusing on corporate processes. This position requires you to coordinate with IT auditors for integrated audits and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the internal audit practice by implementing best practices. You will also support the team lead and management in conducting risk assessments and preparing work programs, monitor the implementation of management actions resulting from audits, and oversee the performance of junior staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure their ongoing development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Audit Specialist will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading independent audits and reviews of internal controls and business processes; serving as the auditor-in-charge for assurance and advisory engagements; coordinating with IT auditors for integrated audits; conducting risk assessments and preparing work programs; monitoring and reporting on the status of management actions resulting from audits; overseeing the performance of reporting staff and providing clear direction; coaching audit team members on corporate processes and integrated audits; ensuring ongoing learning and development of reporting staff; sharing knowledge and participating in interdepartmental task forces or working groups as assigned; and leading continuous improvement activities to enhance the internal audit practice.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for the Audit Specialist position, candidates must possess a university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields, preferably at the post-graduate level or its equivalent. Additionally, candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant professional experience and technical competence in auditing corporate processes within financial institutions or large organizations. A strong understanding of controls and operational experience in budgeting, corporate finance, procurement, human resource management, asset management, IT system development, and other corporate processes is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate project management skills, analytical skills, and the ability to make informed decisions while handling sensitive information responsibly. Experience conducting various assurance and advisory engagements is required, along with written and verbal proficiency in English, including the ability to prepare and discuss audit issues and produce accurate audit reports.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields, with a preference for those holding a post-graduate degree or its equivalent. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of auditing and financial management within large organizations.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in auditing corporate processes, particularly within financial institutions or large organizations. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in conducting assurance and advisory engagements, as well as international experience working in diverse countries and multicultural environments.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal, as the role requires the ability to prepare and discuss audit issues and advisory suggestions at all levels. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term appointment with the option to renew, initially for a period of up to 3 years or until the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. After the initial period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for an additional 3 years based on various factors, including the staff's performance and suitability for employment.
